Termont Montréal adds Kalmar SmartRead with Visy OCR to cargo-handling fleet
Termont Montréal is rolling out Kalmar’s SmartRead solution powered by Visy OCR – across 44 cargo-handling units, with go-live planned for Q3 2025.
The deployment follows a successful pilot on a reach stacker in early 2024 and reflects Termont’s continued investment in terminal automation. “Following a successful pilot on a reach stacker in the first half of 2024, Termont has now decided to implement the OCR solution on 44 units in its cargo-handling equipment fleet,” said Troy Thompson, Director, Sales and Account Management, Kalmar Americas.
Termont’s fleet spans RTGs, RMGs, top loaders, empty handlers, reach stackers, and terminal tractors. Across all of them, Visy OCR will automatically capture container IDs during lifts and deliver real-time, accurate ID data to the Kalmar One and TOS. “Turning every spreader into a smart device allows us to reduce errors and improve data accuracy,” said Marc André Damico, Project Manager Automation at Termont.
Kalmar will handle system commissioning, TOS integration, and ongoing support.
