Automatic Container Damage Detection

Visy Automatic Container Damage Detection System (ADDS) is the first commercially available solution for automatic container damage inspection. The solution uses modern AI software with line scan camera technologies in the gate area and PTZ-cameras in quayside to digitize the container condition.

Container damage inspection without interruptions

Visy ADDS automatically recognizes structural and surface deformities in containers, such as dents and bulges, when trucks drive through detection portals or containers are being handled by STS cranes. Trucks no longer need to stop for manual damage inspections, which cuts the time spent at gate transactions and significantly decreases turnaround times. Automated inspection also allows terminal operators to move manpower from the yard to the office.

Visy ADDS can be inserted as a feature for Visy Truck OCR portals and Visy Crane OCR if automatic detection of other features such as container IDs, ISO codes, dangerous goods labels, door orientation, or seal presence are desired.

Visy RMG OCR

Visy RMG OCR images and identifies containers while they are being handled by RMG cranes. The system captures images of both short sides of containers to acquire identification data such as container IDs and ISO codes.

 

Container OCR for seamless operation

Fixed camera system is mounted on the legs or beams of the cranes in favorable height for the spreader’s flying paths and connected with PLC/CCS to trigger the imaging events. The camera system captures high-quality images, and the Visy container OCR software recognizes the attributes with high recognition rates of 98-99%. The digitized container data is exchanged with TOS in real-time to get the advantages of more accurate and efficient operations.

Visy Rail OCR Portal with Visy Train Gate user application

Visy Rail OCR Portal automatically images train traffic and extracts data from wagons and containers that are visiting the terminal. The imaging environment automates the whole management procedure by providing information and images of each wagon and cargo to the operating system in real time.

High recognition rates and image capturing in any environmental condition

Visy Rail OCR Portal utilizes Visy’s AI-powered container OCR software with line scan cameras, laser scanners, and efficient illuminators to capture high-quality images of all train sides in any environmental condition, regardless of possible dirt or damage, and even with speeds of up to 70 km/h. The system validates the captured data to hit high recognition rates of 97-99.5% and the high-quality images keep a record of container conditions, therefore helping rail terminal operators shed liabilities for containers that arrive damaged.
