Visy Automatic Container Damage Detection System (ADDS) is the first commercially available solution for automatic container damage inspection. The solution uses modern AI software with line scan camera technologies in the gate area and PTZ-cameras in quayside to digitize the container condition.
Visy ADDS automatically recognizes damage, such as holes, dents and bulges, when trucks drive through detection portals or containers are being handled by STS cranes. Trucks no longer need to stop for manual damage inspections, which cuts the time spent at gate transactions and significantly decreases turnaround times. Automated inspection also allows terminal operators to move manpower from the yard to the office.
Visy ADDS can be inserted as a feature for Visy Truck OCR portals and Visy Crane OCR if automatic detection of other features such as container IDs, ISO codes, dangerous goods labels, door orientation, or seal presence are desired.
Visy RMG OCR images and identifies containers while they are being handled by RMG cranes. The system captures images of both short sides of containers to acquire identification data such as container IDs and ISO codes.
Fixed camera system is mounted on the legs or beams of the cranes in favorable height for the spreader’s flying paths and connected with PLC/CCS to trigger the imaging events. In STS, RTG, and RMG solutions, Visy ADDS can be deployed on TopView to automatically detect damage on containers arriving from outside the terminal for liability purposes giving you the proof that they were already damaged when arriving. A smart gate process starts with a pre-gate event where Gate OCR Portals capture critical data, such as container IDs and license plates, using advanced imaging technology. Before reaching the main gate and interacting with the entrance kiosks, the Visy Access Gate processes the pre-gate data to prepare for validation. At the kiosk, the driver enters their booking number, scans their identification card, and completes mandatory safety training. Finally, Visy Access Gate validates the details and determines whether to grant or deny access.
